Computer software

Computer software or just software is a common term used to explain a collection of computer programs, measures and documents that do some tasks on a computer system. The term include application software such as word processors which perform creative tasks for users, system software such as operating systems, which interface with hardware to supply the necessary services for application software, and middleware which control and co-ordinates scattered systems.

"Software" is every so often used in a broader situation to mean something which is not hardware but which is used with hardware, such as film, tapes and report.
